Latest and Greatest..........

Not much is new with us, but we have a few things to report:
Swim Lessons

Bennett will be 4 soon and is just now taking his first swim lessons. It has a little bit of a background, but bottom line is that he is DEATHLY afraid of water. I will take the blame, but it has some to do with the fact that he had ear tubes at the early age of 5 months and continued to have ear problems and a second set of ear tubes and so I never let water get in his ears, so now it is not natural for him to want to jump in water. These pictures are from his 4th swim lesson and this is HUGE that he is under the water. It has taken 4 lessons for him to get to this point. I am proud of him, but it is a little embarrassing to hear him bargain with his swim teacher....she will tell him to do something and he will say, "I will do it and then i will get out, ok?" Anyways, that is one thing that we have been up to!

Beach
We headed down to the beach yesterday and it was beautiful. We were able to hang out with the Bunkers for a little while, which made it so much more fun. I now realize that Bennett needs a friend to play with every time, so I don't have to be the one to freeze my feet off in the water. He didn't even care about me, he wanted to play with his friends.

This is the best we can do for a family photo at the beach! Grayson was over it and all I can say to stick up for myself and the HUGE sunglasses I am wearing is that they were freebies from my sister, which I will ALWAYS take!
Yes, we do have bathing suits on!
New form of Discipline
The father and sons camp out is this Friday and Wade has been telling Bennett about it and Bennett can not stop asking when they are going. Well, I left the house the other night for about an hour and I came home to find a chart on my fridge that Wade had implemented while I was gone. Bennett is at a stage in life (not a fun one) where he chooses to not listen to most things we say. So, instead of telling Bennett to stop doing things a million times Wade decided to try something new. This is how it is going so far:

If you can't read it the chart on the left says "Bennett camping" which is when he does something good or if he listens, and that has 3 marks. The chart on the right says "Bennett not camping" which is obviously when he is not good, and that has 6 marks. Uh oh! The real question is do we make him stay home if the chart stays this way? Hilarious huh? He got two of the "not camping" marks from church today...good thing we don't have church again until after this camp out. I will report back later in the week!

Fun beach day! I was confused for just a minute because I thought YOU were Tara with those sunglasses on. I like them. You're cute.

Yay for Bennett and going underwater. I'm glad he's breaking out of his shell.

I think we'll implement that new form of discipline around here too!

Looks like you had a fun time at the beach! I just LOVE those pictures of Grayson - his many faces made me laugh!

I like your new discipline technique. And I don't know if your question was rhetorical or not, but if it were me, I would enforce it. Otherwise he won't take it seriously... (I apologize if it was rhetorical :)

Wow! Bennett's swimming skills are impressive. And so are Wade's chart making skills. I hope he doesn't have a patten on that because I'm going to do that for taking away the binki = disneyland. The beach was awesome. Let's attempt that again this week.

Wow...he's not cringing because water was splashed in his face...big step. Grayson and the chart are hilarious. We also meant to give a shout out for Grayson's B-day because we have a soft spot for bald, chubby little boys with only two teeth but we took your food for thought the week before and only checked the computer for emails.

Swimming lessons? And the beach? I am moving back... maybe we should meet in the middle and move to St. George by your family! We are seriously considering it one day. Discipline charts are so hard... I've been trying one with Avaree and her reward was Chuckee Cheese when my friend called us up and invited us so we went. There went her reward that she DIDN'T earn!

Love the chart! I definitely need to try that one with Nixon, sounds like he and Bennett are very much alike! Nix is going to be starting his first swimming lesson as well I am so freaked out about it. I feel like he is going to cry the whole time. How is he doing now?
