Daily Dilemmas

MY DILEMMAS FOR TODAY:

#1- Not Funny

So imagine it being 2:00 and I just get both of my boys down for a nap and I was going to do a quick sweep of my house and pick up some toys and then settle down and finish my book and relax. I know that sounds too good to be true right? Right...I go into my room to pick up the toys off of the floor and I am down on my knees and I'm going to pick up a little toy (or so i thought) when it moves!!! I screamed as I realize I have a lizard in my room. MY ROOM! So, to my dismay Grayson starts to cry since I had just screamed at the top of my lungs. Just a lizard you may be saying, but come on, it totally took me by surprise, and it was in my room. I didn't know what I was going to do, but I knew I had to get it out of my house or I would not be able to go to sleep tonight. So I do what anybody would do, start calling people for support. No one seemed to think it was as big of a threat as I did, but think of yourself laying in bed tonight wondering where the lizard was hiding. So, I had to take matters into my own hands. I got a glass container out of our bathroom and i was going to trap him, but he was too fast for me and ran behind my dresser. How was I going to get him out of my house? I needed to feed Grayson, so I sat on my bed and stalked the lizard. I couldn't let the lizard go anywhere else without me knowing. So, as I was feeding Grayson the lizard started peeking around the dresser, yuck, so i laid the glass container on the side and he actually went inside. I hurried and laid Grayson down and threw the lid on the glass jar, I was so excited! I then hear Bennett waking up and so i showed him the lizard and then we let him free in our back yard. Then it was 2:30 and my boys were both awake and my house was still a mess, and my book never got opened. Oh well, at least I will be able to sleep tonight!!! (Did i mention that the lizard was not even an inch long!!!)

#2- Bumbo Blowouts

Bumbo Shmumbo. So as any mother knows this was a genius invention, somewhere to put our small children that can't get around so that we don't have to continually lay them on the floor or somewhere else. Well, I am officially not going to use my Bumbo anymore. It has been confirmed time and time again that Grayson blows out of his diaper EVERY single time he sits in this chair. No matter what!!! Even if he has just pooped and i set him in it to make dinner or get something done, the next thing i know he has yellow juice going up his back. I have washed so many clothes lately because of this chair and i can't continue. It is getting ridiculous. I'm not sure if it is the position that he sits and it presses on his tummy or what, but it happens every time. I'm sad that I will have to resort to laying him on the floor with Bennett harming him, but I can't wash yellow juice out of another onsie!

#3- Too Big Too Fast

So my baby is no longer a baby. This is him in our swing outside. Did I ever put Bennett in a swing at 5 months, I can for sure say no to that. This little boy is getting too big too fast. It seems like the little baby stage lasted forever with Bennett where you would be out and about and you almost got treated special because you were carting around a new baby, well that is over already with Grayson. He is a big boy.
I guess there could be worse things to be complaining about, but that is what is going on around here today!

So that is why I had a missed call from you a little after 2:00! Yikes! I would have been right there... helping you get that little guy. Ya right! I would have been just as scared as you. When I was reading what you did to catch it I was laughing picturing the whole thing. One question? How in the world did it get in your house and most importantly your room?

Oh my goodness, the same exact thing happened to me two weeks ago! I saw a lizard in the girls room and it took me 1 1/2 hours to catch it! It kept going way back behind Bree's bed and I couldn't reach so I had to get this long pole to prick it so that it would run out. Then I would miss catching it and we would have to start all over. I was obsessed because I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep with a lizard in the house either. Where are these lizards coming from, how are they getting in our houses and are there more inside hiding out???

I've never owned a Bumbo and now I'm glad I don't! The last thing I need is more laundry!

Babies grow up way too fast. My dilema is how in the world I am going to get another one down to earth without me dying!! Dylan is getting way too big and I can't handle it!

Lizard!?! I couldn't. I would scream too, don't feel bad.

LOL, Sara. Bennett "harming him"? to funny. That's exactly how I feel but I can't live without the bumbo. Sophie doesn't blow out everytime but I have experienced that too.

How in the world are these babies getting so big, so fast? Do we have crazy hormones in our milk or what?

Maybe that's what I need to buy for Megan. She has not pooped in a week and the doctor says it's okay! But, I am a little concerned...I mean where is all this milk and food going if it is not coming out???

I am totally on board with you. I would have FREAKED with a lizard in my house. That sucks your boys were both up after that, but at least you got the lizard. Child #2 grows way faster than the first. I don't even want to know what #3 will be like. Mia might as well be starting preschool already.

my friend's baby does the EXACT same thing in the bumbo - EVERYTIME!! You're not alone!

I had the exact thing happen to me once - but it was lizzard in my KITCHEN. I didn't know what to do so I ran outside to find help. I begged a gardener that was doing someone elses yard down the street to come get it - then I gave him $5.00 - I just couldn't do anything till it was gone - and about the BUMBO... I KNOW! Brock blew out every time he sat in it. Now that he eats baby food and his poop is thicker it doesn't happen anymore, but seriously they need to put a warning on there or something. Now he only sits in there to eat. Oh and I want a swing like that SOOO bad, we just don't have any where to hang it.

If there was a lizard in my house I would leave I am sure and wait for Tyler to come and find it. I hate creepy crawly things!!! There was a frog on the patio and I wouldn't even go out until I knew it was gone, like two days later! Glad you got it out.

Aren't you worried that the lizard might find his way back into your house? He's only in your backyard afterall. When we lived in Hawaii, we came across a few tiny geckos here and there in our little studio apartment, but I somehow was able to deal with it because in Hawaii they are called Geckos and somehow that doesn't seem as threatening as a Lizard. Plus, everyone there swore that if you had geckos then they would eat the cockroaches. So, I figured I'd rather have geckos than cockroaches. And I think it was true because we saw very few cockroaches in our apartment in the two years that we lived there.

Your stories are funny. And your kids are adorable. Bennett is such a big boy now!

Hey Sara! Don't blame you on the lizard thing. I would have such anxiety laying in bed wondering if the lizard would crawl in our bed looking for a warm place to sleep. Good on ya for gettin' it out.

And amen to the Bumbo Blowouts. Same thing happened with Ruby until (as Jessica said) she started eating baby food. Don't give up all hope on the Bumbo but there is something sinister about the pooping incidents it produces. Maybe it could be used as a remedy for baby constipation.

love that story! in asia the little geckos are all over and on the walls and i kind of liked them there. but, if a lizard was in my house now, i totally would have freaked out, too. i'm impressed that you got him!
